A number of years ago, Rick Warren wrote a book called, “The Purpose Driven Life”. That little book really made me think about many things back then…and now. Dwelling on the fact that God knows me and made me for a purpose, gives me a reason to get up each day. Knowing I’m not just some cosmic happenstance gives me hope and a future. Knowing God loves me so much He was willing to die for me to make peace with my fallen nature and take me back into His family gives me great joy and a sense of belonging. Today’s world is full of people “longing for belonging”. But they often reject the very thing they need and pursue the vanities of the earth instead of the values of the Lord. God made us so He could love us. Cozy up to Him and find out your real purpose in life. Don’t be a floater…rather, know why on earth you are on earth! Ephesians 4:1-6, 11-16. If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? Our families in America are in grave and serious trouble. Divorce has taken its toll along with drugs, alcohol, sexual misconduct, erosion of integrity, liberal world views and social lifestyles, economic stress and so on. Although not popular but true, the real reason for this demise is due to disobedience to the Living God who made man in His image and established life imparting rules and boundaries for them to live by. Our generation today is similar to Noah’s generation several thousand years ago. In Genesis 6:5, “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continuously.” However, there are men and fathers today who, like Noah, are walking in obedience and the favor of God through Jesus Christ. These men have received God’s warnings about things not yet seen and have faithfully prepared an “ark of salvation” (Jesus), for their families (See Hebrews 11:7) Joshua also said, “And if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15) Pray that Jesus will find faithful fathers on earth when (not if) He returns. Our nature is broken and gives us a warped view on everything. We don’t (well, actually can’t) see things as God sees things. Mankind is constantly arguing about what is right and wrong…and then changes it all as time goes by. But God is stable. He never changes, nor do His principles. Be a part of that stability, help change our world for the better by having God’s nature rule in your heart in all you say and do. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 gives a tall order for behavioral standards, and we could be dismayed in not being able to follow it all. But don’t be fooled; in Christ, you can do all things. The God nature is the good nature– follow it!
