God does not make mistakes nor does He have to apologize or “recall” His works as though they need further review, changes, or improvements. He does not need to perfect perfection! Moses speaks these words from God, “The Rock! His work is perfect, all His ways are just; a God of faithfulness and without injustice, righteous and upright is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:4) The Hebrew word for perfect here means without defect, blameless, without blemish, upright, without spot, whole, complete, sound, and undefiled. God sent His son Jesus into this world as a sacrificial lamb without blemish and spotless, perfect in every way, to redeem man from eternal death brought on by Adam’s disobedience. This redemption of grace was not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with Jesus’ own precious blood. Jesus was perfect as God incarnate, “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power...” (Hebrews 1:3) In Christ alone there is perfect peace for those who put their trust in Him. (I Peter 1:18, 19; Isaiah 26:3; John 14:27) If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? The angel of the Lord told the shepherds, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11) A Savior was born for ALL THE PEOPLE, both Jews and Gentiles and every nation and soul upon the entire earth. However, Jesus, who was born into the world in Bethlehem, the house of bread, and placed in a manger, a feeding trough, made it very clear that He alone is God’s bread which came down out of heaven to give life to the world. He further said, “I am the Bread of Life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:33, 35) Jesus came to seek and save the lost, but the lost who walk in darkness must invite the Light of the World and the Bread of Life to save, rule, reign, and feed their hungry souls. The prophet Micah, approximately 700 years before the birth of Jesus, said, “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” (Micah 5:2) Bethlehem literally means house of bread. Therefore, how appropriate for God to arrange for Jesus, the Bread of Life, to be born in Bethlehem. Shepherds were visited by an angel who told them that a savior had been born in the City of David (Bethlehem) who is Christ the Lord. They were also told that they would find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. (Luke 2:11-12) There is no mistake. God placed Jesus in a feeding trough to be bread for men. Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread also which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (John 6:51) (Message originally recorded 12/16/12.) That slickness is disguised in Satan’s deceit. He is the father of lies, the prince of dung and is out to rob, kill and destroy you…and we need to get that into the front of our heads! There is the world, the flesh and the devil, but the devil is the one who misuses the other two and takes advantage of their inherent weaknesses to make you weaker. Our example is Jesus, who resisted every attempt of Satan to tempt Him. Sadly, far too many followers of Christ have given in to the temptations of having power and control. They give in and end up in false doctrines and sin. So let Satan grasp at “air” – you stick to the solid, immovable, pure and glorious power of God to combat the world, the flesh and the devil. Now that’s pretty simple, right? John 3:15, 17 really make the contract clear, “That whoever believes may in Him have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through Him.” Romans 5:8, 10, “But demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us…for if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” That is how God loves us, and we cannot understand so great a love, we cannot understand so simple a contract. Don’t strain your brain on this; just believe Him and take the gift of salvation and with it the indwelling of the Spirit of God which God will manifest in all His glory, day by day, moment by moment. We can’t keep the contract very well on our end, God knows that. But He is not depending on us to keep it…He is depending on Him to keep it on His end. If you haven’t already—I urge you to sign the contract in your heart and enter into the salvation of the Lord. What a mighty God we serve. Listen to the entire sermon and be blessed. We as a people have the hardest time letting go of the controls of our life decisions. We think that only we know what is best for us, and to trust someone else is not easy. To completely trust our life, job, home, and family to another is far beyond what we feel comfortable doing. “The Lord will guide you always.” (Isaiah 58:11) God’s plan is personal. Every believer has the right to take God’s word as though it was written just for them. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” (Psalm 32:8) This verse speaks of an individual pathway, not just the general way of righteousness set before all Christians. The personal interest God shows in each one of us, as revealed in the Bible, is astonishing. All our thoughts, our ways, and our words are known to Him. In Psalm 139:2-6 it says, “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” The Lord not only knows us, but He loves us. Trust in His love. At 1:35 pm, I heard these words: “It takes a while for the old man to die, but let the “while” take place.” Paul certainly identified with this process of dying to self when he said, “For the good that I wish, I do not do; but I practice the very evil that I do not wish.” He goes on to say, “Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?” Most importantly, Paul gives the answer to his question and says, “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” He also tells us when the dying to self takes place and said, “I die daily.” Letting the “while” take place can only be in the very moment in which we live looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. We must be crucified to self and live a resurrected life in Christ alone who enables us to do all things. (See Acts 17:16-34) “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever.” It was “normal” to them. (See Romans 1:25.) In like manner, this godless and idolatrous mentality is upon us in our world today. Children are being born (multitudes out of wedlock and commitment to God) into a family/home environment where dysfunction, chaos, rebellion, and disobedience seem to be the “new normal”—that is all they know. God’s plan for a future of hope, peace, and eternal life through Jesus His son are being mocked and discarded for temporary pleasures, lusts and selfish ambitions in serving the god of this world. It all seems so “normal.” This mentality puts the child first, mother second, father (if in the home at all) third, and then last and least, the living God—the perfect equation for failure and despair. THERE IS HOPE, but only on God’s terms. Paul made it clear to those in Athens that all everywhere should repent, for God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world THROUGH JESUS His Son, whom He raised from the dead. In there you’ll read that God directed Malachi to admonish the people of Israel who had become plagued with corrupt priests, negligence of the tithes and offerings, mixed marriages with pagans and a false sense they were still secure with their relationship to God. Because the promised Messiah had not yet come they were filled with disbelief and doubt which caused them to turn cynical of God and His covenant with them. They started to wonder if it was even worth serving God at all. Ever been there with that thought? Well, if you are totally honest with yourself, you will know whether you have become like those “doubting Israelites”. Will you live a compromised life as they had lowered themselves to, or will you remain a messenger of God? Not just with the message of your mouth, but with the message of how you live your life. Mediocrity is not an option in the cause of Christ!
