When we lead – we often lead ourselves and others “off the cliff”. The reason is that we really don’t know the best way to go. It’s hard to admit that, I know, but pride is a tough part of the broken, corrupted wisdom we inherited from Adam’s separation from God. When Jesus says, “Come, follow Me,” it holds a huge significance. Jesus knows where He’s going – and we don’t! And a big part of following is…waiting on the leader. Waiting on the Lord is not in vain. Follow Jesus and you’ll get life, and not life in prison, either! Our sentence is to life — everlasting — in Jesus. Step back, get out of the way, wait on the Lord and let Him lead you in the way in which you must go. John 8:12 — in Him the way is lit John 10:27 — His sheep follow Him and not others John 12:26 — to serve God you must follow Him Psalm 25:5 — willing to wait all day for the Lord Psalm 27:14 — take courage while waiting Psalm 62:5 — wait in hope in Him Psalm 40:1 — God hears you when you wait on Him John 1:4 — life is in Jesus John 14:6 — only in Jesus is the way to the Father 1 John 5:12 — no life outside of Jesus Key Scripture today: Numbers 9:15-23 — Israelites only moved their camp when the Lord showed them (Listen to entire sermon below.) Some people are those “glass half full” people who … complain, complain, complain! God doesn’t want us living like that, for sure. But how can we live a better life in a world that sometimes seems so bitter and full of evil? Viewpoint … viewpoint … viewpoint – that’s how. We can’t brush sin and hardship under the rug; I’m not suggesting that. Just realize there are beauty, treasure, and holiness here, too! What you train yourself to see and think on is the key. That training must be based on the Word and will of God. Remember, all the positive thinking in the world will only get you so far; but a life in Christ will cover all aspects and truly make you BETTER not bitter. God tells us to set our affections on things above and not on things of the earth. There is no way you can stay bitter and not get better when you realize that in Jesus you have:

It has the participants go through a series of exercises designed to strengthen them and increase their aerobic activity…it is brutal!! It involves using your body in different positions to squat, pull up, push up, etc. It is the workout of workouts! God has a “spiritual workout” for us and, just like the physical one, it will PREPARE you to serve Him. God tells us to be fit; be prepared; be ready. 2 Timothy 2:21 – be PREPARED for every good work Luke 12:12 – the HOLY SPIRIT will TEACH you in that very hour what you are to say 2 Timothy 4:2 – BE READY in season and out of season The seven “spiritual exercises” of CrossFit for Christ are:

Anyone not ready, needs to get ready, or the enemy will know you are easy pickings. We are in a battle here on earth, too…the battle to fight God’s adversaries…the world, the flesh and the devil. If you haven’t noticed, our marriages and families are under relentless attack, churches are filled with moral failures and bitter divisions and God’s standards are being mocked and challenged throughout our culture. These are constant battles and you need to be ready to fight them…on God’s terms. Holiness is critical in these battles…remove sin from ruling you, trust God and do not fear, be vigilant of God’s ways and be single minded for Jesus and not yourself. If you practice these things, God can do wonders through holy warriors who are surrendered to His will. In Him—we win every battle! We continue with James 3…and in the very first verse, he cautions that not everyone need run to be a teacher because they incur a stricter judgment! He was addressing that what comes out your mouth had better be the words of the Lord and not your own opinion. Our Adam nature, the broken nature from Adam’s disobedience, is not aligned with God. God says our minds are enmity (extreme ill will or hatred) to Him. Yuk! So He cautions against us mixing it with what God says, especially as it is taught to others. Verses 2-17 continue with the warning of the “tongue”…what you say and how you say it. Even though bitterness, revenge, disrespect, etc. are feelings, they are all delivered by the tongue. And just as a small rudder can steer a huge ship, so does such a small member of your body, control the direction of your life. Control it, put it under the subjection and wisdom of God and He says it will go well with you. Tough chapter here, but we must seek God for help in making sure we control the tongue so as to steer us in the right direction. (Originally recorded 12/11/13. Listen to entire sermon below.
