When we lead – we often lead ourselves and others “off the cliff”. The reason is that we really don’t know the best way to go. It’s hard to admit that, I know, but pride is a tough part of the broken, corrupted wisdom we inherited from Adam’s separation from God. When Jesus says, “Come, follow Me,” it holds a huge significance. Jesus knows where He’s going – and we don’t! And a big part of following is…waiting on the leader. Waiting on the Lord is not in vain. Follow Jesus and you’ll get life, and not life in prison, either! Our sentence is to life — everlasting — in Jesus. Step back, get out of the way, wait on the Lord and let Him lead you in the way in which you must go. John 8:12 — in Him the way is lit John 10:27 — His sheep follow Him and not others John 12:26 — to serve God you must follow Him Psalm 25:5 — willing to wait all day for the Lord Psalm 27:14 — take courage while waiting Psalm 62:5 — wait in hope in Him Psalm 40:1 — God hears you when you wait on Him John 1:4 — life is in Jesus John 14:6 — only in Jesus is the way to the Father 1 John 5:12 — no life outside of Jesus Key Scripture today: Numbers 9:15-23 — Israelites only moved their camp when the Lord showed them (Listen to entire sermon below.) A destiny awaits every soul that has been or ever will be born into this world. Thank God that He has given to all a free will to choose our fate. Every moment and every ounce of energy in a person’s life can be either spent running to God faithfully bound to Him through Christ Jesus bringing to pass eternal salvation— or running away from Him resulting in eternal death. Sadly, multitudes are myopic and near sighted, and choose to live in the moment to experience the temporal pleasures and enticements, and yield to the temptations that Satan, the god of this world, has to offer them. These souls have been deceived to believe a lie and are undiscerning as Satan disguises and transforms himself as an angel of light. Jesus explained that there are two ways of life, “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it.” We have often heard the expression, “Run for your life,” and that’s exactly what the writer of Hebrews is saying, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance (patience) the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” One thing remains for sure—to prevaricate is not an option! To prevaricate means to stray from or evade the truth. The Latin root means to straddle. Doesn’t that sound familiar in today’s society? Simply put, run to live or run to die! 2 Corinthians 11:14; Hebrews 12:1, 2; Matthew 7:13, 14 (Hear the entire message below.) Clothing, along with water, air, food, and shelter, are most certainly paramount and indispensable for the very survival and existence of mankind on earth. However, along with our earthly apparel, we must be clothed on high by God, through Jesus Christ, if we are to inherit eternal life. A man without Christ is like a man wearing filthy rags – not fit for the kingdom of God. (See the parable of the wedding feast in Matthew 22.) Romans 3:23 says, “For all have signed and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.” Isaiah also gives us a description of one who is unclean even in his righteous, well-intended deeds. He says, “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; and all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” (Isaiah 64:6) “Kingdom clothing” cannot be fabricated and worn by man. Only God, through Jesus Christ, can adorn the soul with righteous apparel. Isaiah 61:10 says, “I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation. He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Have you looked into the “mirror of your soul” lately? If so, what did you see – he filthy rags of this world draped over a vagabond wandering aimlessly in this world without a home? Or did you see God’s heavenly garments of purity and righteousness in Christ Jesus? (See Isaiah 1:18) Paul said, “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless you fail the test? (2 Corinthians 13:5) What you wear determines where you are going! He is very patient and is not interested in a perishing people – but wants to save them. Sadly, there will be multitudes that do perish because they lack faith and trust in Christ. There is a powerful adversary out there who has duped people into believing that God does not matter. God is being vetted and moved out of our institutions, judicial systems, and the leadership of our government. We are living in a day full of the hope of the Lord. It is a day of promise. But listen as Pastor Mark shares the real church’s call to wake up – wake up – wake up before it is too late. In there you’ll read that God directed Malachi to admonish the people of Israel who had become plagued with corrupt priests, negligence of the tithes and offerings, mixed marriages with pagans and a false sense they were still secure with their relationship to God. Because the promised Messiah had not yet come they were filled with disbelief and doubt which caused them to turn cynical of God and His covenant with them. They started to wonder if it was even worth serving God at all. Ever been there with that thought? Well, if you are totally honest with yourself, you will know whether you have become like those “doubting Israelites”. Will you live a compromised life as they had lowered themselves to, or will you remain a messenger of God? Not just with the message of your mouth, but with the message of how you live your life. Mediocrity is not an option in the cause of Christ! This last section of our series on finding the answers to life brings us to three final truths: anything asked in God’s will you will receive; in Jesus, we have freedom from sin; we must strive to guard ourselves from idols. A few things have to be clarified, though…the requests that will be received must be those that mirror God’s will and plan for you. So if you’re praying your head off for an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii, you may be waiting a long time. Another bit of information is in regards to being free from sin. That is not like spiritual sugar being sprinkled on your head and you sin no more. No, it means that when you walk with the Spirit of God guiding you, you cannot sin because He will never lead you to sin. And lastly, in guarding yourself from idols…it is not just talking about some statue or image that is supposed to be representative of God…the original word used in the Greek really means your opinions, ideas, likenesses, vanity, phantom, nothing! Well, that surely describes our broken thinking doesn’t it! The warning was to guard against your own ideas and opinions sneaking into your spiritual relationship with God. He knows what He means by what He has said and you need to go to Him for that revelation and understanding. Previous "I Found The Answer" Messageshttp://www.heartlight.org/ Part 3 of our series on life’s answers takes us on to some pretty important questions we have to ask ourselves. If you aren’t settled on the answers to these questions, then some of the solutions outlined are not going to help you. But I do hope you dive in with both feet and at least think on these things; but I do suggest you do that thinking at the feet of Jesus! The first question is “do you believe that Jesus is God?” I don’t mean Allah, or Buddha, or your ancestors or fire or lightening or the cosmos, etc. If you were believing a lie, wouldn’t you want to know it? So, it is not dueling belief systems I’m talking about here; it is what the truth is. When you know the truth, the truth will set you free. Next, do you love others as Christ loved the church; not when you feel like it or when it is convenient, but as He loved us? Read 1 Corinthians 13 again regarding what God says love entails. Do you overcome the world and its desires? This is a tough one in today’s “anything goes”, “morality is what you say it is” world! Remember, only when God is in your heart can you overcome any sin, any temptation, and any foolish decision that may come your way. Lastly, do you know that eternal life is in Jesus Christ? Eternal…now that’s a long, long time! Have you really thought this one out? If you know those answers, then you are on the road to not only knowing life’s answers, but living them!
