God spoke through Jeremiah to the false prophets of Judah, His people, and proclaimed, “But who has stood in the counsel of the Lord, that he should see and hear His word? Who has given heed to His word and listened? (Jeremiah 23:18) God also tells us what is the outcome or outflow of those who humble themselves to receive His counsel. He says, “If they had stood in my counsel, then they would have announced my words to my people, and would have turned them back from their evil way and from the evil of their deeds.” (Jeremiah 23:22) Paul certainly was a faithful and courageous man of God who received God’s counsel and boldly declared that, “I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose (counsel) of God.” (Acts 20:27) May you also be encouraged and emboldened to stand in God’s counsel and declare in His power the gospel of Jesus Christ in our world today. Through His creation of dogs and other animals who find a kinship with mankind, the Lord gave us some wonderful examples of how we should live. There is a direct lesson in love, loyalty and patience found in these beautiful creatures that we can learn and follow. Open your heart to God’s love and be a willing student. Like Christ, we should have a servant’s attitude born out of love. But, as humans, we are often weak. Rather than trust our God-given instincts and directions, we often go against them and selfishly serve only ourselves. Let the Master teach you the ways you can glorify and honor Him. Trust, honor, love and obey our Master Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:13, “for it is God who works in you to will and act according to his good purpose.” [Be sure to view the video below that was referenced in Pastor Ted's message.] If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? At 1:35 pm, I heard these words: “It takes a while for the old man to die, but let the “while” take place.” Paul certainly identified with this process of dying to self when he said, “For the good that I wish, I do not do; but I practice the very evil that I do not wish.” He goes on to say, “Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?” Most importantly, Paul gives the answer to his question and says, “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” He also tells us when the dying to self takes place and said, “I die daily.” Letting the “while” take place can only be in the very moment in which we live looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. We must be crucified to self and live a resurrected life in Christ alone who enables us to do all things. Even the agnostics and atheists who say they do not embrace anything are slaves and servants to their god or gods of “nothingness.” Many are entrenched in religious customs and habits but do not walk in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. In Genesis 17:1-2, God appeared to Abram when he was ninety-nine years old and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before Me and be blameless, and I will establish my covenant between Me and you.” To walk with God means to commit oneself to obedience to His voice as a lifestyle and pattern of conduct. It means to follow God’s flow and leading of His Holy Spirit with every heartbeat and breath we take. Jesus, our highest and most perfect example of walking in obedience to His heavenly Father while on earth said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” (John 5:19) Therefore, for true believers in Christ today, walking with God means to receive and obey the revelations of God spoken to us by His Holy Spirit who resides in all His children.
