We will look at three huge points noted in Romans 1:16-32:

© http://www.creationswap.com/media/5963 When Paul journeyed to Athens he observed a city of Greeks who were religious and lost in idolatry. (See Acts 17:16-34) “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever.” It was “normal” to them. (See Romans 1:25.) In like manner, this godless and idolatrous mentality is upon us in our world today. Children are being born (multitudes out of wedlock and commitment to God) into a family/home environment where dysfunction, chaos, rebellion, and disobedience seem to be the “new normal”—that is all they know. God’s plan for a future of hope, peace, and eternal life through Jesus His son are being mocked and discarded for temporary pleasures, lusts and selfish ambitions in serving the god of this world. It all seems so “normal.” This mentality puts the child first, mother second, father (if in the home at all) third, and then last and least, the living God—the perfect equation for failure and despair. THERE IS HOPE, but only on God’s terms. Paul made it clear to those in Athens that all everywhere should repent, for God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world THROUGH JESUS His Son, whom He raised from the dead. (Sermon originally recorded on 3/11/12.) In there you’ll read that God directed Malachi to admonish the people of Israel who had become plagued with corrupt priests, negligence of the tithes and offerings, mixed marriages with pagans and a false sense they were still secure with their relationship to God. Because the promised Messiah had not yet come they were filled with disbelief and doubt which caused them to turn cynical of God and His covenant with them. They started to wonder if it was even worth serving God at all. Ever been there with that thought? Well, if you are totally honest with yourself, you will know whether you have become like those “doubting Israelites”. Will you live a compromised life as they had lowered themselves to, or will you remain a messenger of God? Not just with the message of your mouth, but with the message of how you live your life. Mediocrity is not an option in the cause of Christ! This last section of our series on finding the answers to life brings us to three final truths: anything asked in God’s will you will receive; in Jesus, we have freedom from sin; we must strive to guard ourselves from idols. A few things have to be clarified, though…the requests that will be received must be those that mirror God’s will and plan for you. So if you’re praying your head off for an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii, you may be waiting a long time. Another bit of information is in regards to being free from sin. That is not like spiritual sugar being sprinkled on your head and you sin no more. No, it means that when you walk with the Spirit of God guiding you, you cannot sin because He will never lead you to sin. And lastly, in guarding yourself from idols…it is not just talking about some statue or image that is supposed to be representative of God…the original word used in the Greek really means your opinions, ideas, likenesses, vanity, phantom, nothing! Well, that surely describes our broken thinking doesn’t it! The warning was to guard against your own ideas and opinions sneaking into your spiritual relationship with God. He knows what He means by what He has said and you need to go to Him for that revelation and understanding. Previous "I Found The Answer" Messages© www.123rf.com Paul certainly lived and ministered among people who were inclined to worship the creature rather than the living God Himself, the creator of all things in the heavens and on earth. Paul said that these people exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever. (Romans 1:25) When Paul was in Athens, he also witnessed a city full of idols, where he preached Jesus and His resurrection to the Jews, to God-fearing Gentiles and philosophers of that time. (Acts 17:16-34) In response to Paul’s message of the resurrection of the dead, some of his audience began to sneer and mock, and called him an idle babbler, but others desired to hear him again at a later time. In contrast, some of his listeners joined him and believed—not later, but immediately. In our society today, there continue to be those who reject Jesus and worship and serve the creature (god of this world), but they are fast approaching a fixed day when God will judge the world in righteousness through His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. (Acts 17:31) Let the doubters doubt, but let the righteous stand and SERVE THE CREATOR.
