I am sure you have heard of the exercise program “CrossFit”. It has the participants go through a series of exercises designed to strengthen them and increase their aerobic activity…it is brutal!! It involves using your body in different positions to squat, pull up, push up, etc. It is the workout of workouts! God has a “spiritual workout” for us and, just like the physical one, it will PREPARE you to serve Him. God tells us to be fit; be prepared; be ready. 2 Timothy 2:21 – be PREPARED for every good work Luke 12:12 – the HOLY SPIRIT will TEACH you in that very hour what you are to say 2 Timothy 4:2 – BE READY in season and out of season The seven “spiritual exercises” of CrossFit for Christ are:

Paul walked in a very close and intimate relationship with Jesus, and he was mightily anointed by God’s Spirit to preach the gospel to all men. His journey of faith came with a price of suffering mentally, physically, and spiritually. He was tested by God and, like so many other followers of Jesus, he was proven to be faithful to the end. At one point in the scriptures, Paul elaborated on the specific accostings and brutal punishments he experienced by the enemies of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul never would have survived such ordeals and trials if he didn’t believe that God’s grace and salvation were sufficient for such times in his life. Paul wrote to the Corinthians and, speaking from his own experiences of trusting God unconditionally for His salvation in the moment, he said, “And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain—for He says, 'at the acceptable time I listened to you, and on the Day of Salvation I helped you.' Behold now is 'the acceptable time,' behold, now is 'the day of salvation'”. He also spoke these encouraging words, “Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” After all, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. How about you? Are you experiencing God’s salvation through Jesus and depending on Him for your salvation in every moment of your life? The Psalmist wrote, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” References: 2 Corinthians 11:23-33; 2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Philippians 4:11-13; Psalm 46:1 (Hear the entire message below.) However, Isaiah speaks of a glorious freedom and emancipation from our sins through the redemption in the blood of Jesus Christ. He says, “'Come now, and let us reason together,'” says the Lord, 'though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool. If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.'” Paul also said that he pressed on to lay hold of Christ, forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead. Be encouraged to press onward in your daily redemption in Jesus, and don’t let the sins of the past (which could be only one minute ago) rob you of the love, joy, peace and salvation Jesus has given you this day! We are living in a time of a tremendous spiritual warfare, and Satan is unrelenting in his efforts to suppress the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is nothing new for he was there in the Garden of Eden lying to and deceiving Adam and Eve into eating the forbidden fruit even though they knew God’s word and truth, for it was hidden in their hearts. Satan lied to them about what God really said and they “took the bait” of deception. Romans 1:18 says, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.” Suppress here means to “hold it captive” and “hold it down.” Romans 1:19 goes on to say, “…because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.” God made it visible, understandable, clear, plain, known, and spread abroad in their very being. God’s truth is innate, possessed at birth, inherent, remains fixed, and intrinsic within mankind. However, Satan’s mission is to kill, steal, and destroy the mighty work and plan of God. (See 1 Peter 5:8) Remember, knowing who and what you stand for will limit who and what you fall for. In the Book of Revelation, God gives some messages to the “churches”, meaning the “called out” ones…not the buildings! Many people glean much information about the end times and its prophecies from that book, but tonight we shall cover some of God’s conversations on what He has observed…sort of His assessment of His followers. Hold on to your hats, it’s not pretty! Revelation 2-3 compiles a listing of what God has seen in each of the churches in the different areas of the ancient empire. It is best not to be seen only as a report card on what happened long ago, but rather as a teaching tool, if not an outright warning, of what is still going on today. I thank God He is not a vindictive and mean entity, for this assessment is pretty accurate; and, yet, He has not annihilated us. Rather, He wants to teach us and guide us out of our broken nature and into His marvelous light…to a better life, with Him eternal. I don’t know about you, but I think I’m going to listen up right about now! God’s children are His workmanship, His creation in Christ Jesus to bring forth good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Yes, God turns the heat up on His children when necessary to purge and purify them from the dross, sin, and worldly ways ever present seeking to bring them down. God will test His people, not tempt them, to see and discern what is in their heart. We read in Proverbs that, “The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests hearts.” God alone can examine and see the most intimate and hidden parts of a man’s heart. He will also set in motion what is necessary to free His children from their infirmities. In fact, David prays for God to examine him, try him and test his mind and heart. Examine here means to test the genuineness of something. God’s refining fire and discipline will come to all His children because of His great love. The writer of Hebrews says “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faith when you are reproved by Him. For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives.” Welcome and pray for the refining fire and discipline of God to do a marvelous and transforming work in your life today! At 1:35 pm, I heard these words: “It takes a while for the old man to die, but let the “while” take place.” Paul certainly identified with this process of dying to self when he said, “For the good that I wish, I do not do; but I practice the very evil that I do not wish.” He goes on to say, “Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?” Most importantly, Paul gives the answer to his question and says, “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” He also tells us when the dying to self takes place and said, “I die daily.” Letting the “while” take place can only be in the very moment in which we live looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. We must be crucified to self and live a resurrected life in Christ alone who enables us to do all things. If you aren’t settled on the answers to these questions, then some of the solutions outlined are not going to help you. But I do hope you dive in with both feet and at least think on these things; but I do suggest you do that thinking at the feet of Jesus! The first question is “do you believe that Jesus is God?” I don’t mean Allah, or Buddha, or your ancestors or fire or lightening or the cosmos, etc. If you were believing a lie, wouldn’t you want to know it? So, it is not dueling belief systems I’m talking about here; it is what the truth is. When you know the truth, the truth will set you free. Next, do you love others as Christ loved the church; not when you feel like it or when it is convenient, but as He loved us? Read 1 Corinthians 13 again regarding what God says love entails. Do you overcome the world and its desires? This is a tough one in today’s “anything goes”, “morality is what you say it is” world! Remember, only when God is in your heart can you overcome any sin, any temptation, and any foolish decision that may come your way. Lastly, do you know that eternal life is in Jesus Christ? Eternal…now that’s a long, long time! Have you really thought this one out? If you know those answers, then you are on the road to not only knowing life’s answers, but living them! (Gen 22) His every step, heartbeat, and thought along the way was yielded to the living God when he was committed to and endeavored to serve. Fears, doubts and apprehensions must have pressed enormously on his mind and heart. But he was determined to allow God to give him strength and faith to accomplish His command; a faith that gives substance to things hoped for and evidence to things not seen. (Heb 11:1) This faith in him, and from God, was evident when he told the young men traveling with him and Isaac to stay behind and said to them, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go yonder, and we will worship and return to you.” (Gen 22:5) Worship and return! How can this be when Isaac was to be offered? Because nothing is impossible with God, and the mind cannot tread where faith can venture. In the end, God spared Isaac and provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice. Romans 4:3 says that, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” May followers of Jesus everywhere have such a renewed and fresh stirring to contend earnestly for the faith such as we see here in Abraham. © http://rblog.thebowmans.us/ Matthew 5:48 “Therefore, you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Oh great…Jesus is telling me to be perfect like He is!! No way!!! For most of us, that seems a measure we can’t meet…or is it? God won’t tell us to do something He knows we can’t (or at least not without His help). So what does it mean? If we look at the original meaning of the word “perfect” we can see that it is not telling you to be morally perfect (nice goal though!) or to be sinless (another nice goal). God knows, because of the Adam nature, we won’t be. No, the Greek word used is teleios, meaning having reached its end, finished, complete, whole, or mature. It’s really more about your “graduation” than your “grades”, so to speak. What does this “maturing and completing process include…well, one of the best ways to see Jesus' perspective on perfection is to look at Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount” as recorded in Matthew chapters 5 through 7. Jesus shows us His side of the story and how we can be complete to meet that measure. The point made is that we CAN be perfect like He is perfect…meaning COMPLETE, FINISHED, WHOLE, and MATURE! Jesus really covered it all! Go on now, what are you waiting for…start your engines!
