It is becoming more apparent every day that Christians and their godly values have been given the “cold shoulder” by many leaders in Washington. The truth that our great nation was founded on biblical principles by God-fearing men and women, is being shunned, scorned, and marginalized by those with an anti-Christ agenda and Spirit. Recently, Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk Action, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Concerned Women for America, and the Tea Party have been targeted and attacked by the I.R.S. Dr. Dobson writes, “Are you aware that religious liberties cherished by millions of Americans, are being attacked viciously and relentlessly, by various departments of the federal government? These agencies are being led by appointees of President Obama, who gives them their marching orders. His policies are intended to implement what he refers to as the “transformation” of America. This is his word for it. We call it “unconstitutional.” Our nation is on a collision course with disaster without the rule of God and His Son, Jesus Christ. There is hope for revival but only in repentance and dependence on God. The church at Laodicea was in serious trouble for their lukewarmness and indifference to God’s ways. However, Jesus reached out to them (and America today) and said, “Behold I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20) (Message originally recorded: 6/9/13) If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? As we reflect on this July 4, 2013, I want us to think on the greatness of this nation. We have done so much and it has been so successful. But I think we are slipping a bit. As our country has slowly removed God, references to Him, prayer and Bible from the public square, has anyone noticed the precipitous decline of our military might, our standing in the world, our academic achievements, our financial strength and the overall health of our country? Whoa…I think we’re cruisin’ for a bruisin’! A long time ago, it was said that America was great because her people were great, but that it would remain so only as long as her people remain great. We have gone from laws against abortion, homosexuality and pornography to laws for those issues. We have gone from laws for prayer and Bible reading in public school to laws against them. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is looking mighty pertinent right now! If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? (See Acts 17:16-34) “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever.” It was “normal” to them. (See Romans 1:25.) In like manner, this godless and idolatrous mentality is upon us in our world today. Children are being born (multitudes out of wedlock and commitment to God) into a family/home environment where dysfunction, chaos, rebellion, and disobedience seem to be the “new normal”—that is all they know. God’s plan for a future of hope, peace, and eternal life through Jesus His son are being mocked and discarded for temporary pleasures, lusts and selfish ambitions in serving the god of this world. It all seems so “normal.” This mentality puts the child first, mother second, father (if in the home at all) third, and then last and least, the living God—the perfect equation for failure and despair. THERE IS HOPE, but only on God’s terms. Paul made it clear to those in Athens that all everywhere should repent, for God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world THROUGH JESUS His Son, whom He raised from the dead. How to get rid of the gnawing guilt and shame after you sin 4. Feeling fresh and clean again Satan has a continuing ambition to replace God and have others worship Him. (Matthew 4:8-9) Our message sign out in the church yard tells it clearly…“Opportunity knocks once, but temptation bangs on your door forever.” Satan constantly tempts people to try and entice them to sin, to disobey God, to be on a wrong course away from His plan. But God has an answer when Satan tempts. He said in Matthew 4:10, “Then Jesus said to him, be gone Satan! For it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.” We can’t accurately say, then, that “the devil made me do it”. We sin, not Satan. But the answer Jesus gave him during that temptation is the model for us. 1. Resist the devil and he will flee from you—RESIST—push him away. 2. Refer to the Scriptures for all your wisdom and information. 3. Revere and serve God only and not the world, the flesh or the devil. God will pardon us and free us from our shame and guilt. That is not an excuse to sin, only relief that He still loves us and removes the condemnation of death and hell from us. Micah 7:18-19, “Who is a God like Thee, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities underfoot, Yes, Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” I don’t know about you, but I intend to leave them there! So, even though the devil did not make us do it, you and I have sinned. But we are forgiven, and we can be free from the guilt, shame, and condemnation in that sin…oh, glory to God! “Hi, My Name is (put your name here), and I am a Recovering Sinner.” Just like in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, we, too, must admit that we have a problem. Without admitting that we are sinners, we can never have the type of sorrow for our wrongdoing that leads to repentance! That is a hard pill to swallow. But if you have been following along with my sermons, there is a thread in there about the “Adam nature”. That is the nature we inherited from what Adam did, NOT from what God did. That Adam nature is low level, base, rough and enmity (antagonism, hostility and hatred) to God. Oh, but that’s not me…oh, yes it is.

The Rest of the Story-Jesus Does the Miracles You Do the Repenting (by Pastor Linda Pugsley)11/17/2011 Jesus healed birth defects and diseases, cast out demons, fed many with just a little, and walked on water--He did it all. But there is a bit more to the story than meets the eye when He did His healing miracles. Read in Mark 2:1-13 about the paralytic man lowered through the roof so Jesus could heal him. Now, most of us would have said that it was easier for the man to have his sins forgiven rather than the work of a miracle--but not in God’s world! They had faith for Him to do a miracle because they had seen or heard of it being done before. But did they have faith regarding the forgiveness of their sins? That is the bigger issue with God. The miracle of forgiveness is there for us all, but you have to receive it. Remember, Jesus said He was at the door knocking. He asks that you let Him in so He may come and dine with you! Once healed of your sins, you can truly “pick up your pallet” and walk the walk in Jesus. Audio: (Click forward button below to play audio of message and/or download mp3 file.)

How many times have we heard or said that? A hurt occurs, sorrow is felt, and promises to change are made...but we don’t. What’s up with that? Maybe it’s because we think sorrow and confession are enough to make the changes needed. In the Scripture, the process is called repentance...and that involves much more than saying you are sorry. True repentance involves change; it is a turning from sin and turning to God. The end result of true repentance is glorious...it is a revived life in Christ knowing that His ways are the best ways and no treasure tops His righteousness ruling in us. Be sure to listen to the posted audio of this sermon and learn the “Six Signs of True Repentance”.
