Be careful of anything that competes with your loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ. And one of the greatest competitors of worship of Him is works for Him! Ah, but you say, “God said that faith without works is dead”. Yes, but be careful because the devil wants you dead from exhaustion not exultation! Are you more devoted to service than to Jesus? Only you can answer that question. Live to please God, and if you don’t know what pleases God, just ask Him. He’ll tell you: • Obedience • Prayer • Praise • Forgiveness • Truth • Purity • Kindness • Generosity • Love • Peace • Patience • And things such as these (Hebrews 13:15-16; Proverbs 16:7; 1 Kings 3:9-14; 2 Corinthians 5:9) Let us not only serve God, but also satisfy Him! (Hear the entire message below.) If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? Jesus told us “the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve.” This reality alone sent the disciples into a state of confusion. How in the world could this be possible? Jesus also said, “He who is least among you all – he is the greatest.” (Luke 9:48) In this world’s thinking, more often than not, we put ourselves first ahead of all others. With a puffed out chest, many do what they do for the notoriety, fame, rewards and adulation of peers. But, “NEWS ALERT!”, we are nothing compared to the One we need to be like. Most everyone seems to “like” Jesus. But they don’t really understand. You don’t just “like” Jesus as you would a “friend” on Facebook or other social media. By the same token, you don’t just “unlike” Him as you would a friend simply because you disagree with Him. We need to “be” like Him. Some attempt to silence the teachings of Jesus by seeking for themselves and omitting and twisting His words. They change the meaning because what He said doesn’t settle well in their souls. Not serving themselves is the greatest wall they cannot get over – they can’t get over themselves. The way of Jesus is the path of servant hood. This is not a test to see if we deserve better. It is God offering us the best of Himself and the best of life. Jesus calls us to the servant way because He was and is a servant to all of us. When people go to you for something, do they find an empty cookie jar? Do you have inside of you what is needed for their refreshment, renewing or restoration? Or, like the empty cookie jar, you are just “painted” on the outside as a Christian? We are lacking and empty and far from what God is, but your jar can be full, so to speak, full of Him, if you let Him. 1 John 1:5, “…God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.” When people come to you, let them find your cookie jar full of His holiness and not your emptiness! Through His creation of dogs and other animals who find a kinship with mankind, the Lord gave us some wonderful examples of how we should live. There is a direct lesson in love, loyalty and patience found in these beautiful creatures that we can learn and follow. Open your heart to God’s love and be a willing student. Like Christ, we should have a servant’s attitude born out of love. But, as humans, we are often weak. Rather than trust our God-given instincts and directions, we often go against them and selfishly serve only ourselves. Let the Master teach you the ways you can glorify and honor Him. Trust, honor, love and obey our Master Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:13, “for it is God who works in you to will and act according to his good purpose.” [Be sure to view the video below that was referenced in Pastor Ted's message.] If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? Paul considered himself the foremost of all sinners. He said he was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor and a violent aggressor against the faithful followers of Jesus Christ. He later became a recipient of God’s grace and found mercy through Jesus Christ. Paul said that Jesus demonstrated His perfect patience toward him as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. Paul expresses his gratitude to Jesus for saving his soul as follows: “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me (KJV, “enabled” me) because He considered me faithful, putting me into service.” Like Paul, all who have received Jesus Christ as Lord and savior have been commissioned and enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit to serve God and glorify His holy name. Paul said he learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. He gives us the “secret” and says: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” If you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, you also have been lavished with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus in order to serve the living God. Are you experiencing the ability to do all things through Jesus Christ who enables and strengthens you to serve Him daily? A number of years ago, Rick Warren wrote a book called, “The Purpose Driven Life”. That little book really made me think about many things back then…and now. Dwelling on the fact that God knows me and made me for a purpose, gives me a reason to get up each day. Knowing I’m not just some cosmic happenstance gives me hope and a future. Knowing God loves me so much He was willing to die for me to make peace with my fallen nature and take me back into His family gives me great joy and a sense of belonging. Today’s world is full of people “longing for belonging”. But they often reject the very thing they need and pursue the vanities of the earth instead of the values of the Lord. God made us so He could love us. Cozy up to Him and find out your real purpose in life. Don’t be a floater…rather, know why on earth you are on earth! Ephesians 4:1-6, 11-16. I think God is crying out the same thing to us today; not only for our blessed and glorious country, but for Him and for each other. Whether you are paid or a volunteer, you are an important part to the full function of God’s work on earth. Let Jesus come inside you and let Him pull you together as an integral part of His body—holy, sanctified and for His good use. (Colossians 1:27). Let’s make sure it’s not “gimme, gimme, gimme; but rather all for God's glory, glory, glory! Join with us today as we review the workings of the body of Christ. Remember, when you need God most, He often sends His love in the form of one of His people; a “part” of the body of Christ! For your ease in listening and downloading, this week's message will be divided into two parts.
PRINT OR VIEW HAND OUT BELOWOn January 14, the Tampa Tribune printed an article covering most of the front page about Tim Tebow, a devout Christian and quarterback of the Denver Broncos football team. The story was titled, "BOTH ON THE FIELD AND OFF, TIM TEBOW IS A MAN ON A MISSION." The article stated that, "the Denver quarterback has faith-driven motivation to capitalize on his time in the spotlight." This 24-year-old young man is humbly determined and committed to use his celebrity status on the world's athletic stage to glorify Jesus Christ. In like manner, all God's children have an obligation to let the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ shine in their daily life. God has a mission for you–a faith-driven mission that will please Him. He will fashion, mold, and shape you into the image of Jesus Christ, right where you are. He will connect the dots and put the pieces together for you. Most likely you are not famous like Tim, but you and I, and whomsoever will, must have faith-driven motivation and "...walk as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:8, 9) Do you have faith-driven motivation? Are you on a mission for Jesus Christ–for such a time as this?
