Sometimes you do doubt, even when you love God with all your heart. The prophet Jeremiah certainly loved God, but when the Babylonians overran Jerusalem in 586 BC, he surely had a “bout of doubt”. In Lamentations 5:20 he cried, "Why do You forget us forever; why do You forsake us for so long?" Doubt is definitely a problem—a big problem. God calls it sin. Fight it with all your might. Know the occasions of doubt; know the sources of doubt and above all, know the cure for doubt, all of which we will discuss in our sermon today. Remember, even though we sometimes hate to admit it, all doubt can be traced to unbelief in God’s word. Confess that sin to God and move on from there to be immersed in God’s word, then examine yourself and pray like never before! © www.sharefaith.com John 20:29, “Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’” We tend to look for the physical evidence to prove or disprove a story or to confirm the truth. With today’s technology, we seem to think that the truth will be viewed by scientific process; and the human element of deductive reasoning is now a relic of bygone days. The world does not understand what it cannot see - fingerprint, retinal scan, photograph, video or DNA test. You cannot gene map the soul and spirit of the believer in Christ. You see, the evidence is hidden from the nonbeliever. It is only revealed in truth by grace from God to the eyes and heart of the “nonseeing” – “those who have not seen and yet have believed”. Take the step to believe. Open your mind to God’s sight for you. Let Him reveal the truth of His love and, by grace of God, save yourself from the darkness. He is the light! Let God bless your life and open your heart and mind to His gift of eternal life. (See Acts 17:16-34) “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever.” It was “normal” to them. (See Romans 1:25.) In like manner, this godless and idolatrous mentality is upon us in our world today. Children are being born (multitudes out of wedlock and commitment to God) into a family/home environment where dysfunction, chaos, rebellion, and disobedience seem to be the “new normal”—that is all they know. God’s plan for a future of hope, peace, and eternal life through Jesus His son are being mocked and discarded for temporary pleasures, lusts and selfish ambitions in serving the god of this world. It all seems so “normal.” This mentality puts the child first, mother second, father (if in the home at all) third, and then last and least, the living God—the perfect equation for failure and despair. THERE IS HOPE, but only on God’s terms. Paul made it clear to those in Athens that all everywhere should repent, for God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world THROUGH JESUS His Son, whom He raised from the dead. There is a lot more going on with doubt than meets the eye—just like with an iceberg…you see only the tip of it. When we doubt God it just may be because there are underlying issues in our hearts:
