Knowing the truth is knowing what is said in the Bible to be true. The knowledge of the scriptures affects our attitude toward the present and the future. The more we know about what God has done in years past, the greater the confidence we have about what He will do in the days ahead. We should read our Bible diligently to increase our trust that God's will is best for us. "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope." (Romans 15:4 NIV) The Bible is the living book of God's words that reveals to us not only the past but the truth of all that is happening around us now and what is to come in the future. Through the Holy Spirit, we are able to discern who the adversary is and his agenda. God's truth is the light that shows us the enemy's devious works, and by that Light they are destroyed. Just as in any military, if you aren’t prepared for battle—you’re most likely going to DIE! Anyone not ready, needs to get ready, or the enemy will know you are easy pickings. We are in a battle here on earth, too…the battle to fight God’s adversaries…the world, the flesh and the devil. If you haven’t noticed, our marriages and families are under relentless attack, churches are filled with moral failures and bitter divisions and God’s standards are being mocked and challenged throughout our culture. These are constant battles and you need to be ready to fight them…on God’s terms. Holiness is critical in these battles…remove sin from ruling you, trust God and do not fear, be vigilant of God’s ways and be single minded for Jesus and not yourself. If you practice these things, God can do wonders through holy warriors who are surrendered to His will. In Him—we win every battle! [Scripture References: 2 Timothy 2:4; 2 Timothy 1:7; Romans 8:31; Joshua 7:13] (Listen to entire message below.) Paul wrote to the church in Rome, "...do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2) The Greek word for transform is metamorphoo (meta, meaning change and morphe, form). In biology class, we learned that through metamorphosis a caterpillar changes into a butterfly, and a tadpole transforms into a frog. Likewise, when we come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we begin a lifelong journey requiring us to submit daily to the Holy Spirit who teaches us, enables us, and empowers us to be conformed and transformed into the image of Christ. Our mind is actually renewed to prove and know the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. Yes, it is a battle, a spiritual warfare to die to self and old habits and to live for Christ in the refreshing newness of the Holy Spirit. Paul's own words cry out in this struggle to put off the old man–"Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?" He answers his own question, "Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Romans 7:24, 25) You are like a complex puzzle–are you willing to let go and let God put the perfectly-fashioned pieces together to transform you in 2012 and beyond?
