Be careful of anything that competes with your loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ. And one of the greatest competitors of worship of Him is works for Him! Ah, but you say, “God said that faith without works is dead”. Yes, but be careful because the devil wants you dead from exhaustion not exultation! Are you more devoted to service than to Jesus? Only you can answer that question. Live to please God, and if you don’t know what pleases God, just ask Him. He’ll tell you: • Obedience • Prayer • Praise • Forgiveness • Truth • Purity • Kindness • Generosity • Love • Peace • Patience • And things such as these (Hebrews 13:15-16; Proverbs 16:7; 1 Kings 3:9-14; 2 Corinthians 5:9) Let us not only serve God, but also satisfy Him! (Hear the entire message below.) If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? God’s wisdom is a treasure worth more than anything else and, in the middle of the real conflicts, troubles and temptations that come into all of our lives, we cannot afford to forget the “identifying marks” of His wisdom. If these are present, it definitely is not your wisdom! Identifying Marks of God’s Wisdom (James 3:17)
James 1:5 “But if any of you LACKS wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously (bigheartedly, openhandedly, liberally) and without reproach (blame, criticism, reprimand, scolding), and it will be given to him.” We need to “wise up” and “look up”. No excuses now…this wisdom from above is free and just for the asking. Hey, I’m smart enough at least to know that – are you? Thank you, Jesus! (Listen to entire sermon below.) God makes that clear, too, when we read in John 6:28-29 that the work of God is that you believe in Him Whom He has sent; and that is prerequisite #1! The “works” of God means giving Him thanks, making known His deeds, singing to Him, giving Him glory, speaking of His wonders, being glad, seeking His strength, and remembering His wonders and marvels. So, in addition to feeding the hungry, helping the widows, the unwed mothers and the plethora of works out there, don’t forget to pursue God Himself! God wants us hot not lukewarm (Revelation 3:15-16). Jesus declared that “the good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.” KJV says, “For of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” (Luke 6:45) I love the way Paul expressed his willingness and readiness to preach the gospel to whomsoever. He said, “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.” (Romans 1:15) He was ready and willing to release what filled his heart on the inside. (“…as much as in me is…”) Elihu, the youngest of Job’s comforters said, “Behold, my belly is like unvented wine, like new wineskins it is about to burst. Let me speak that I may get relief; let me open my lips and answer.” (Job 32:19, 20) Is this your experience? Can you say, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…”? (Romans 16:1) Is your life so filled with a passion to spread the gospel that you feel you might burst if you don’t speak it? Are you willing? Are you ready? Do you speak out of the good treasure of your heart—every day? Audio: (Click forward button below to play audio of sermon and/or download mp3 file.)
