© www.heartlight.org Whether we like to admit it or not, all of mankind is born with a sinful nature. And, because of that, we NEED righteousness from God. So if we ever want to approach God…it’s got to be on His terms and not ours! It may sound harsh that it’s “my way or the highway”…but if anyone is really honest with themselves before God, they know that man’s ways always fail and come short of what we really need and want…so it has to be His ways. Born to destruction and detached from God means you will only end up in hell, whether you like it or not…it is the truth and you will be held accountable before God. So, what’s the alternative then…well – don’t ya’ think it would be a NEW LIFE? A life in which your sins have been forgiven and the stench and the death sentence of those sins has been obliterated – gone –removed. That new life is free, folks…freely given to all who trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation. Follow along and find out the rest of the story. [Scripture References: 2 Cor 5:17; John 5:24; Col 1:13; John 3:3; Gal 4:4-5, 7] If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? This last section of our series on finding the answers to life brings us to three final truths: anything asked in God’s will you will receive; in Jesus, we have freedom from sin; we must strive to guard ourselves from idols. A few things have to be clarified, though…the requests that will be received must be those that mirror God’s will and plan for you. So if you’re praying your head off for an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii, you may be waiting a long time. Another bit of information is in regards to being free from sin. That is not like spiritual sugar being sprinkled on your head and you sin no more. No, it means that when you walk with the Spirit of God guiding you, you cannot sin because He will never lead you to sin. And lastly, in guarding yourself from idols…it is not just talking about some statue or image that is supposed to be representative of God…the original word used in the Greek really means your opinions, ideas, likenesses, vanity, phantom, nothing! Well, that surely describes our broken thinking doesn’t it! The warning was to guard against your own ideas and opinions sneaking into your spiritual relationship with God. He knows what He means by what He has said and you need to go to Him for that revelation and understanding. Previous "I Found The Answer" Messages© www.123rf.com There are so many songs and poems, movies and plays addressing the question, “What is Life All About?” Well, if you look closely at Chapters 1 through 5 in 1 John, you’ll finally have the answers…the guidelines of life. Make sure you “teach your children well”, as the old 60’s song bawled! We shall cover these areas over the next four teachings. In this first section, we will cover some simple instructions: walk in the light, confess your sins, obey His commands and love one another, not the world. We will explore to whom you confess your sins; where you find God’s commands; and how you can love and obey as God has directed. So come on board. Hang on; it may be a bumpy ride! How to get rid of the gnawing guilt and shame after you sin 4. Feeling fresh and clean again Satan has a continuing ambition to replace God and have others worship Him. (Matthew 4:8-9) Our message sign out in the church yard tells it clearly…“Opportunity knocks once, but temptation bangs on your door forever.” Satan constantly tempts people to try and entice them to sin, to disobey God, to be on a wrong course away from His plan. But God has an answer when Satan tempts. He said in Matthew 4:10, “Then Jesus said to him, be gone Satan! For it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.” We can’t accurately say, then, that “the devil made me do it”. We sin, not Satan. But the answer Jesus gave him during that temptation is the model for us. 1. Resist the devil and he will flee from you—RESIST—push him away. 2. Refer to the Scriptures for all your wisdom and information. 3. Revere and serve God only and not the world, the flesh or the devil. God will pardon us and free us from our shame and guilt. That is not an excuse to sin, only relief that He still loves us and removes the condemnation of death and hell from us. Micah 7:18-19, “Who is a God like Thee, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities underfoot, Yes, Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” I don’t know about you, but I intend to leave them there! So, even though the devil did not make us do it, you and I have sinned. But we are forgiven, and we can be free from the guilt, shame, and condemnation in that sin…oh, glory to God! The disobedience of Adam and Eve meant that they and all of us were plunged into sin and corruption…far from the delight of the Garden of Eden. Among other things, innocence was lost, pain endured in childbirth was increased, and the ground was cursed making it harder to make a living–the ultimate loss was the separation from God. This separation means corruption entered into the human existence. It is like a computer virus–it corrupts everything. The only remedy is to clean it out and run a new program. That new program is Jesus. Death came with Adam, but life with Jesus Christ.
