There once was a company of men Led by a mighty commander For three years they were inseparable. He promised that while he was with them Not one of them would perish. Then, one night, the enemy attacked Under the cover of darkness. Not one man was lost in the confrontation. The commander willingly surrendered; So that his men could be saved. His company of men was not detained. He was tried and convicted of crimes That he did not commit Before his death, he was spit upon, ridiculed, beaten and tortured, Maybe you can relate. Perhaps you were once treated that way. He told his men That he would go through hell and back for them. He died a death that was reserved For the most despicable criminals, But his father was proud of him. He had completed his assignment. The enemy thought it had defeated him; When in fact, it had only sealed his victory. The commander kept all of his promises. He died for his people He went through hell and back for them. He defeated death and conquered the enemy. I serve the same Commander today, And invite you to join His company. “…choose for yourselves today whom you will serve…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15-NASB)

A "truth" that is spoken often in our church is that God doesn't want us to "act holy", He wants us to "be holy". This young man, Jeff Bethke, goes straight to the heart of the subject in his YouTube video. |
