Clothing, along with water, air, food, and shelter, are most certainly paramount and indispensable for the very survival and existence of mankind on earth. However, along with our earthly apparel, we must be clothed on high by God, through Jesus Christ, if we are to inherit eternal life. A man without Christ is like a man wearing filthy rags – not fit for the kingdom of God. (See the parable of the wedding feast in Matthew 22.) Romans 3:23 says, “For all have signed and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.” Isaiah also gives us a description of one who is unclean even in his righteous, well-intended deeds. He says, “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; and all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” (Isaiah 64:6) “Kingdom clothing” cannot be fabricated and worn by man. Only God, through Jesus Christ, can adorn the soul with righteous apparel. Isaiah 61:10 says, “I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation. He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Have you looked into the “mirror of your soul” lately? If so, what did you see – he filthy rags of this world draped over a vagabond wandering aimlessly in this world without a home? Or did you see God’s heavenly garments of purity and righteousness in Christ Jesus? (See Isaiah 1:18) Paul said, “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless you fail the test? (2 Corinthians 13:5) What you wear determines where you are going! Many amazing miracles took place during and after the crucifixion of Jesus. Immediately following Jesus' last breath and declaration to God and the world that "It is finished," there was the miraculous tearing of the temple veil from top to bottom. At the same, "the earth shook, and the rocks were split and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised." The temple veil was torn to give us unhindered access into the Holy of Holies and the very presence of God through Christ's own body being "torn" for us. Though He was sinless and perfect in every way, He took upon himself our iniquity and sin and removed it and cast it into the "sea of forgetfulness." The law that required the sacrifice of bulls and goats could never remove the sins of the people and give them access directly to God. God appointed a priesthood for a season and gave rules for their atonement. But Jesus has been offered as the ultimate sacrifice – giving His own blood – and has torn down the veil and walls of separation and invited us to "draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need." (John 19:30; Matthew 27:51-53; Hebrews 4:16) If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? He was fully human and fully God on a mission to redeem man from death and eternal separation from God. In Luke 9:51 we read, “And it came about, when the days were approaching for His ascension, that He resolutely set His face to go to Jerusalem.” He was destined to be crucified in Jerusalem as God’s perfect and unblemished Passover Lamb. That’s what Palm Sunday is all about. Jesus was entering Jerusalem on the 10th day of the first month, Abib-Nisan of the Jewish calendar. He was displaying Himself to the world and was being set apart as the Passover Lamb. He would be “kept” until the 14th day for His sacrifice on Calvary— right on God’s schedule. (See Ex 12:1-14.) Zechariah spoke of His majestic entry into Jerusalem, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation. Humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” (Zechariah 9:9) The multitudes were going before Him laying their garments on the roadway and spreading branches along the way. They shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David and blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” (See Matthew 21:1-11) It has been over 2000 years since Jesus gave His life as a ransom for all who would receive Him as Lord and Savior. Make every day a “Palm Sunday” to bow before Him, casting your garments (your life) before Him and shouting “Hosanna in the highest and blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? He does not need to perfect perfection! Moses speaks these words from God, “The Rock! His work is perfect, all His ways are just; a God of faithfulness and without injustice, righteous and upright is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:4) The Hebrew word for perfect here means without defect, blameless, without blemish, upright, without spot, whole, complete, sound, and undefiled. God sent His son Jesus into this world as a sacrificial lamb without blemish and spotless, perfect in every way, to redeem man from eternal death brought on by Adam’s disobedience. This redemption of grace was not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with Jesus’ own precious blood. Jesus was perfect as God incarnate, “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power...” (Hebrews 1:3) In Christ alone there is perfect peace for those who put their trust in Him. (I Peter 1:18, 19; Isaiah 26:3; John 14:27) If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? The angel of the Lord told the shepherds, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11) A Savior was born for ALL THE PEOPLE, both Jews and Gentiles and every nation and soul upon the entire earth. However, Jesus, who was born into the world in Bethlehem, the house of bread, and placed in a manger, a feeding trough, made it very clear that He alone is God’s bread which came down out of heaven to give life to the world. He further said, “I am the Bread of Life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:33, 35) Jesus came to seek and save the lost, but the lost who walk in darkness must invite the Light of the World and the Bread of Life to save, rule, reign, and feed their hungry souls. The prophet Micah, approximately 700 years before the birth of Jesus, said, “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” (Micah 5:2) Bethlehem literally means house of bread. Therefore, how appropriate for God to arrange for Jesus, the Bread of Life, to be born in Bethlehem. Shepherds were visited by an angel who told them that a savior had been born in the City of David (Bethlehem) who is Christ the Lord. They were also told that they would find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. (Luke 2:11-12) There is no mistake. God placed Jesus in a feeding trough to be bread for men. Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread also which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (John 6:51) (Message originally recorded 12/16/12.) God says that, “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) Wow – what a crummy employer that pays you with death!!! – separation from God FOREVER! If you work for sin, you are hooked on such a cruel master. On the other hand, God doesn’t “pay” you to work for Him; it’s voluntary on your part, and a free gift on His part. This free gift is eternal life. You can’t earn it, buy it or barter for it; for if you could, then it wouldn’t be a FREE GIFT, now would it? We need to understand a few basics: eternal means it never ceases. Also, the basic concept here involves union…coming together with something as one. Physical Life: UNION of body and soul — human birth Spiritual Life: UNION of soul and God — new birth-born again Eternal Life: Eternal UNION of soul and God — final stop You unite with God in Christ = gift of eternal life Jesus knew exactly what He was getting into – a painful, excruciating death…a cost that cost Him everything…right up to and including His life. Stop and think now – it cost YOU NOTHING…NADA, but it cost God everything and cost Jesus His life. The wages of sin is death – separation from God – SEPARATES. The gift of eternal life – UNION with God – UNITES. I rest my case! Romans 5:8 gives us the heart of the atonement: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Court adjourned! Ever since the fall of Adam through disobedience, God has been reaching out to a rebellious world time and time again. Hebrews 1:1-3 says, “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature and upholds all things by the word of His power…” When Jesus approached Jerusalem for His last Passover feast, He saw the city and wept over it. He wept because His people rejected and did not recognize His visitation and message of eternal life and peace. Because of their hardness of heart, Jesus prophesied that Jerusalem would be leveled and the people destroyed. Almost 40 years later, the Romans fulfilled this prophesy. See Luke 19:41-44. And, in these last days, Jesus continues to knock on the doors of men’s hearts. His visits are convicting, convincing, revealing and piercing into the depths of each man’s soul. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice & opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me.” Rev. 3:20 If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? © www.123rf.com Neil Armstrong (the first man to set foot on the moon) said, as he took his first step on the moon, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” As we look back to this monumental accomplishment for the human race, we remember the incredible effort it took to make this happen – the well thought-out plans, engineering and physical labor were astonishing. Man left earth to set foot on a separate heavenly body (the moon) in the summer of 1969. But the greatest leap of all mankind – past, present, future, and for all eternity – actually occurred over 2,000 years ago. In the small town of Bethlehem, Jesus was born. God incarnate stepped down from the heavens. “‘The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ – which means, ‘God with us.’” (Matthew 1:23) “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) This is what God did for this world because He loves us so much. Today, man needs to take a leap of faith on his journey to salvation and seek out the Face of God through Jesus Christ.
