![]() © http://www.123rf.com We so often feel that way when grief and struggles assail us. But we must be reminded that when overwhelmed…REMEMBER GOD’S GREATNESS! (Read Psalm 77:7-15 and Exodus 14:1-31) So, don’t get caught up in the details of your circumstances…get caught up in the greatness of God. We so often shake a fist at God because He didn’t stop the devastation or the “extreme circumstance”. But stop and think…if He is in total control, then your extreme circumstance isn’t “extreme” to Him! And, just because things didn’t work according to your plan, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t His plan! In the Scriptures noted, we see that the Israelites panicked when the Egyptian army was roaring down on them. They forgot so quickly what God had just delivered them from in their years of slavery and deprivation. By looking at the details of the situation instead of looking to God first, they were consumed in fear instead of faith. God’s love and plan won out and He rescued them again…just like He will for you. Lesson learned: Don’t get caught up in the details of your circumstances…get caught up in the greatness of God. ![]() © http://www.123rf.com Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the assurance (substance) of things hoped for, the conviction (evidence) of things not seen. Faith here means to be bound, to bind together as one. This chapter names multitudes who were faithful unto death without receiving the promises of God in their lifetime. They did, however, welcome them from a distance by faith and confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth (away from their heavenly home). (See Hebrews 11:13) It was from a distance that Abraham looked up and saw Moriah where he was to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac. It was also at this time when we witness compelling evidence of Abraham’s binding faith in God when he told his two servants to stay behind while he and Isaac were to go and worship God and return to them. (See Genesis 22:5) Sometimes, perhaps frequently, you may feel the stress and adversities of everyday life and feel that God is far away, but be reminded that God told Abraham and Sarah, regarding the birth of Isaac, that nothing was too difficult for Him. (Genesis 18:14) Today we have access to God and are brought near to God through Jesus who shed His blood that we may be forgiven and inherit eternal life. Now, we can experience a close, personal and intimate relationship with God through Jesus--no longer from a distance. ![]() Most of us have certainly heard of the expression, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.” This is especially true when it comes to God’s words, laws and statutes for all men to obey and enjoy His blessings. However, there are lawmakers and judges who are deceived to believe that they have a superior wisdom over God and know what is best for mankind and our country. Isaiah speaks to these maligned rulers and says, “Woe to those who enact evil statutes and to those who constantly record unjust decisions, so as to deprive the needy of justice and rob the poor of My people of their rights, so that widows may be their spoil and that they may plunder the orphans.” (Isaiah 10:1, 2) There is an aggressive assault by the ungodly against the rule of God and the wisdom of God. God’s word is becoming less esteemed and is being replaced with self-righteous and defiant authorities. These unjust decisions will lead our nation further away from God’s rule and blessings. It is the unfolding (entrance) of God’s word that gives light and understanding to the simple, not the folding (closing up) or neglect of His word. (See Psalm 119:130) Our founding fathers had a propensity to humble themselves before God. They cherished God’s word as a lamp unto their feet, and a light unto their path. (See Psalm 119:105) There is hope for America and the world but only in Jesus, the light of life! ![]() © 2012 www.livinglifephoto.com Jeremiah is often called “the Weeping Prophet” because he wept openly about the sins of his people. (Jeremiah 9:1) He was one of God’s spokesmen in his time, and he said that the word of the Lord was “like a burning fire shut up in my bones.” (Jeremiah 20:9) God desired and offered rest for all His people and spoke these words through Jeremiah. “Thus says the Lord, ‘Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and you will find rest for your souls.’ But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ And I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’” (Jeremiah 6:16-17) God reached out time after time to a rebellious nation offering them rest, peace and salvation, and He has extended this invitation through His Son Jesus Christ to all mankind today. It is an invitation to press in and seek the ancient paths and the ancient words from the Ancient of Days. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls. For my Yoke is easy and my Load is light!” (Matthew 11:28-30) LISTEN TO AUDIOPERSONAL TESTIMONIESPastor Mark and others share their personal testimonies with us prior to the morning's message. I think God is crying out the same thing to us today; not only for our blessed and glorious country, but for Him and for each other. Whether you are paid or a volunteer, you are an important part to the full function of God’s work on earth. Let Jesus come inside you and let Him pull you together as an integral part of His body—holy, sanctified and for His good use. (Colossians 1:27). Let’s make sure it’s not “gimme, gimme, gimme; but rather all for God's glory, glory, glory! Join with us today as we review the workings of the body of Christ. Remember, when you need God most, He often sends His love in the form of one of His people; a “part” of the body of Christ! For your ease in listening and downloading, this week's message will be divided into two parts.
