![]() We continue our series by looking at four more “truths” to live by…ah, yes, the real answers to life’s questions. We have to know and live the truth as God portrays, not as we see it; we have to practice righteousness and purity; we have to be generous and we have to make sure to walk it and not just talk it. There are some questions you should ask yourself too…get really honest with you and God on this. How much time do you spend on the Scripture and the pursuit of understanding them? What are your guidelines for righteousness and purity? Do you avoid situations that could lead to sin? Do you tithe or just throw a dollar or two in the plate? You do know that a “tithe” means 10% of your income (salary, social security, disability, oil royalties). Don’t be shy on this one…you really will reap what you sow! And lastly, in regards to walking it and not just talking it, are you one of those people who spout off scripture at every turn and yet don’t apply it to yourself? There’s an old saying, “Preach the gospel every day…and some days use words!” Live it, love it, learn it…c’mon, you can do that! [Scripture Reference: 1 John Chapters 1-5] If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? ![]() When we observe the obvious disorder, confusion and chaos in our world today, we are witnessing the outcome of disobedience and rebellion against the only true and living God. God is not the author of this confusion, but of peace. (1 Corinthians 14:33) He also has not given us, His people, a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) David was certainly out of order and felt the sting of sin and ensuing heartbreak of disobedience when he committed adultery with Bathsheba. His actions were disgraceful and wrong, yet the Bible tells us that David was a man after God’s heart. And he cried out to a forgiving and compassionate God to set things in order in his life. David asked God for help and said, “Order my steps in thy word, and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” (Psalm 119:133) Order here means to be established, be steadfast, be firm, be prepared and to set in place. David was not alone in his striving against sin for we have ALL sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Like David, each one of us must ask our heavenly Father through Jesus to, “Order my steps, order my thoughts, order my words, so that I may glorify You in all that I do and say.” If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? ![]() © www.123rf.com There are so many songs and poems, movies and plays addressing the question, “What is Life All About?” Well, if you look closely at Chapters 1 through 5 in 1 John, you’ll finally have the answers…the guidelines of life. Make sure you “teach your children well”, as the old 60’s song bawled! We shall cover these areas over the next four teachings. In this first section, we will cover some simple instructions: walk in the light, confess your sins, obey His commands and love one another, not the world. We will explore to whom you confess your sins; where you find God’s commands; and how you can love and obey as God has directed. So come on board. Hang on; it may be a bumpy ride! Paul said that these people exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever. (Romans 1:25) When Paul was in Athens, he also witnessed a city full of idols, where he preached Jesus and His resurrection to the Jews, to God-fearing Gentiles and philosophers of that time. (Acts 17:16-34) In response to Paul’s message of the resurrection of the dead, some of his audience began to sneer and mock, and called him an idle babbler, but others desired to hear him again at a later time. In contrast, some of his listeners joined him and believed—not later, but immediately. In our society today, there continue to be those who reject Jesus and worship and serve the creature (god of this world), but they are fast approaching a fixed day when God will judge the world in righteousness through His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. (Acts 17:31) Let the doubters doubt, but let the righteous stand and SERVE THE CREATOR. ![]() © http://rblog.thebowmans.us/ Matthew 5:48 “Therefore, you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Oh great…Jesus is telling me to be perfect like He is!! No way!!! For most of us, that seems a measure we can’t meet…or is it? God won’t tell us to do something He knows we can’t (or at least not without His help). So what does it mean? If we look at the original meaning of the word “perfect” we can see that it is not telling you to be morally perfect (nice goal though!) or to be sinless (another nice goal). God knows, because of the Adam nature, we won’t be. No, the Greek word used is teleios, meaning having reached its end, finished, complete, whole, or mature. It’s really more about your “graduation” than your “grades”, so to speak. What does this “maturing and completing process include…well, one of the best ways to see Jesus' perspective on perfection is to look at Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount” as recorded in Matthew chapters 5 through 7. Jesus shows us His side of the story and how we can be complete to meet that measure. The point made is that we CAN be perfect like He is perfect…meaning COMPLETE, FINISHED, WHOLE, and MATURE! Jesus really covered it all! Go on now, what are you waiting for…start your engines! PRINT OR VIEW HAND OUT BELOW![]() © www.123rf.com Neil Armstrong (the first man to set foot on the moon) said, as he took his first step on the moon, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” As we look back to this monumental accomplishment for the human race, we remember the incredible effort it took to make this happen – the well thought-out plans, engineering and physical labor were astonishing. Man left earth to set foot on a separate heavenly body (the moon) in the summer of 1969. But the greatest leap of all mankind – past, present, future, and for all eternity – actually occurred over 2,000 years ago. In the small town of Bethlehem, Jesus was born. God incarnate stepped down from the heavens. “‘The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ – which means, ‘God with us.’” (Matthew 1:23) “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) This is what God did for this world because He loves us so much. Today, man needs to take a leap of faith on his journey to salvation and seek out the Face of God through Jesus Christ. ![]() © http://www.123rf.com It’s not about money or time…it’s about YOU. Giving all to Jesus is what everyone needs to do to develop spiritually. Beware, it will not come naturally, and it will cost you everything. This Christian life is anything but a boring life for sure…sacrificial, but not boring. To have Jesus scour the landscape of your life and weed out, and sometimes tear out, all that is unclean and profane is a task of love and honor. No, I’m not crazy–it’s the love of God that propels Him to do it and the honor of mankind to receive it. So it’s not what you DO–it’s who you ARE in Christ. Being surrendered to God means you constantly put aside what you think, what you feel and what you want. You’re not left an empty void, though…by putting away YOU (the lower), you get God (the Higher). When you do that, you get God doing the thinking, wanting and feeling. So give it all to Jesus…He’s waiting for you. “Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don’t you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land.” (Isaiah 43:19 NCV) LISTEN TO AUDIOIf you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now?
