Ever since the fall of Adam through disobedience, God has been reaching out to a rebellious world time and time again. Hebrews 1:1-3 says, “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature and upholds all things by the word of His power…” When Jesus approached Jerusalem for His last Passover feast, He saw the city and wept over it. He wept because His people rejected and did not recognize His visitation and message of eternal life and peace. Because of their hardness of heart, Jesus prophesied that Jerusalem would be leveled and the people destroyed. Almost 40 years later, the Romans fulfilled this prophesy. See Luke 19:41-44. And, in these last days, Jesus continues to knock on the doors of men’s hearts. His visits are convicting, convincing, revealing and piercing into the depths of each man’s soul. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice & opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me.” Rev. 3:20 If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? © www.heartlight.org Whether we like to admit it or not, all of mankind is born with a sinful nature. And, because of that, we NEED righteousness from God. So if we ever want to approach God…it’s got to be on His terms and not ours! It may sound harsh that it’s “my way or the highway”…but if anyone is really honest with themselves before God, they know that man’s ways always fail and come short of what we really need and want…so it has to be His ways. Born to destruction and detached from God means you will only end up in hell, whether you like it or not…it is the truth and you will be held accountable before God. So, what’s the alternative then…well – don’t ya’ think it would be a NEW LIFE? A life in which your sins have been forgiven and the stench and the death sentence of those sins has been obliterated – gone –removed. That new life is free, folks…freely given to all who trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation. Follow along and find out the rest of the story. © www.123rf.com We are facing some very important times ahead – for our country, the world, and each one of us individually. Choices are going to need to be made that will determine more than we can imagine. These choices will have an impact on each and every aspect of our everyday lives. How we determine what the correct choices are is of paramount concern. In order to make these decisions, we must know and be able to recognize what is true and what is not (discernment). But how do we do this? What do we look for? Where can the truth be found? Jesus is the Light of the world, and in His Word, the truth can be found. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) “But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” (John 3:21) If you have never put your complete faith in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation, why not believe what God's word says and call on Jesus Christ to save you right now? This last section of our series on finding the answers to life brings us to three final truths: anything asked in God’s will you will receive; in Jesus, we have freedom from sin; we must strive to guard ourselves from idols. A few things have to be clarified, though…the requests that will be received must be those that mirror God’s will and plan for you. So if you’re praying your head off for an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii, you may be waiting a long time. Another bit of information is in regards to being free from sin. That is not like spiritual sugar being sprinkled on your head and you sin no more. No, it means that when you walk with the Spirit of God guiding you, you cannot sin because He will never lead you to sin. And lastly, in guarding yourself from idols…it is not just talking about some statue or image that is supposed to be representative of God…the original word used in the Greek really means your opinions, ideas, likenesses, vanity, phantom, nothing! Well, that surely describes our broken thinking doesn’t it! The warning was to guard against your own ideas and opinions sneaking into your spiritual relationship with God. He knows what He means by what He has said and you need to go to Him for that revelation and understanding. Previous "I Found The Answer" Messages© www.heartlight.org God knows precisely and thoroughly what’s on the inside and the character of every man. The writer of Hebrews says, “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart, and there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.” (Hebrews 4:12-13) In Psalm 139:1-3, David wrote, “O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.” We also know that Jesus, the Good Shepherd, calls His own sheep by name and they hear His voice and not the voice of strangers (John 10). Paul wrote to Timothy and said, “The firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and ‘Let everyone who names the name of the Lord abstain from wickedness.’” (2 Timothy 2:19) It is such a comfort to understand that Jesus knows my name and hears me when I call to Him. © www.heartlight.org Are you ever afraid to believe God and what He has said? It’s a faith thing…believing and being “bound” to the Lord. Someone once said that faith means believing in advance what will only make sense in reverse! I like that. Two things keep coming up, though, that interfere with that belief and a smooth alliance with God and what He has promised…those two pesky problems are WORRY and STRESS. And you know what–both worry and stress REEK OF ARROGANCE! OUCH!! When we worry and are stressed out, we have gotten off track and have forgotten that God says to be anxious for nothing (Matthew 6:25-34) and to cast your cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:6-7). When you do that, you can sleep in peace (Psalm 4:8); have strength and blessings (Psalm 29:11). Wow–maybe we could write a book on how to handle today’s worries…oh, wait…God already did…the Bible! If you aren’t settled on the answers to these questions, then some of the solutions outlined are not going to help you. But I do hope you dive in with both feet and at least think on these things; but I do suggest you do that thinking at the feet of Jesus! The first question is “do you believe that Jesus is God?” I don’t mean Allah, or Buddha, or your ancestors or fire or lightening or the cosmos, etc. If you were believing a lie, wouldn’t you want to know it? So, it is not dueling belief systems I’m talking about here; it is what the truth is. When you know the truth, the truth will set you free. Next, do you love others as Christ loved the church; not when you feel like it or when it is convenient, but as He loved us? Read 1 Corinthians 13 again regarding what God says love entails. Do you overcome the world and its desires? This is a tough one in today’s “anything goes”, “morality is what you say it is” world! Remember, only when God is in your heart can you overcome any sin, any temptation, and any foolish decision that may come your way. Lastly, do you know that eternal life is in Jesus Christ? Eternal…now that’s a long, long time! Have you really thought this one out? If you know those answers, then you are on the road to not only knowing life’s answers, but living them! (Gen 22) His every step, heartbeat, and thought along the way was yielded to the living God when he was committed to and endeavored to serve. Fears, doubts and apprehensions must have pressed enormously on his mind and heart. But he was determined to allow God to give him strength and faith to accomplish His command; a faith that gives substance to things hoped for and evidence to things not seen. (Heb 11:1) This faith in him, and from God, was evident when he told the young men traveling with him and Isaac to stay behind and said to them, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go yonder, and we will worship and return to you.” (Gen 22:5) Worship and return! How can this be when Isaac was to be offered? Because nothing is impossible with God, and the mind cannot tread where faith can venture. In the end, God spared Isaac and provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice. Romans 4:3 says that, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” May followers of Jesus everywhere have such a renewed and fresh stirring to contend earnestly for the faith such as we see here in Abraham.
