© 2012 www.livinglifephoto.com Jeremiah is often called “the Weeping Prophet” because he wept openly about the sins of his people. (Jeremiah 9:1) He was one of God’s spokesmen in his time, and he said that the word of the Lord was “like a burning fire shut up in my bones.” (Jeremiah 20:9) God desired and offered rest for all His people and spoke these words through Jeremiah. “Thus says the Lord, ‘Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and you will find rest for your souls.’ But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ And I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’” (Jeremiah 6:16-17) God reached out time after time to a rebellious nation offering them rest, peace and salvation, and He has extended this invitation through His Son Jesus Christ to all mankind today. It is an invitation to press in and seek the ancient paths and the ancient words from the Ancient of Days. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls. For my Yoke is easy and my Load is light!” (Matthew 11:28-30) LISTEN TO AUDIOPERSONAL TESTIMONIESPastor Mark and others share their personal testimonies with us prior to the morning's message. © http://www.123rf.com So many times our problems come not so much because we are ignorant of His ways but because we are ignoring the guidance from God! In Matthew 7, we are reminded of seven areas in our lives where God gives specific instructions on how to live it to His fullness:
Jesus taught these precepts by His Spirit and not as the Scribes with their tainted religious babblings. Many were amazed, but many walked away. What will you do? Once you've heard, then you are not ignorant...from here on, you can only ignore or obey Him. You choose! PRINT OR VIEW HAND OUT BELOW© Carolyn Marshall | www.livinglifephoto.com Multitudes of people are living lives that are devoted to causes and convictions that agree with their philosophy and world view. Even the agnostics and atheists who say they do not embrace anything are slaves and servants to their god or gods of “nothingness.” Many are entrenched in religious customs and habits but do not walk in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. In Genesis 17:1-2, God appeared to Abram when he was ninety-nine years old and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before Me and be blameless, and I will establish my covenant between Me and you.” To walk with God means to commit oneself to obedience to His voice as a lifestyle and pattern of conduct. It means to follow God’s flow and leading of His Holy Spirit with every heartbeat and breath we take. Jesus, our highest and most perfect example of walking in obedience to His heavenly Father while on earth said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” (John 5:19) Therefore, for true believers in Christ today, walking with God means to receive and obey the revelations of God spoken to us by His Holy Spirit who resides in all His children.
